Catherine the Great's Summer Palace

The Catherine Palace is a Rococo palace just southeast of St. Petersburg, Russia in the town of Tsarskoye Selo. The original palace was finished in 1717 under Catherine I of Russia. In 1733 Empress Elizabeth had the palace expanded and in 1752 felt the palace was outdated and had it demolished and rebuilt in a much grander Rococo style. Construction finished in 1756.
